How to get on top of marketing before your summer holiday

Sunglasses, sunhat and an e-book by the pool.

With the summer months coming in fast, we know there is one thing on your mind – jetting off on your summer holiday. BUT, before you leave for your sizzling summer break, we want to give you some tips to help relieve your marketing-related stress over the summer period. In this post, we explore 6 things you need to do to get on top of your marketing before your summer holiday. So, you can relax knowing that your business is continuing to grow while you’re away.

1. Plan your diary

We understand that when running a business, finding spare time can be extremely difficult. However, we recommend putting a small amount of time in your diary each day for marketing-related tasks. It doesn’t have to be long, around 30 – 45 minutes at the start of each day will do the trick. This can help you to stay organised when trying to get on top of marketing before your summer holiday. It will also help to ensure those marketing tasks will be completed in a timely manner. Trust us, you will feel less stressed and panicked using this process. This leads us to our next tip of planning ahead and prioritising.

2. Plan ahead & prioritise

When it comes to marketing, planning is always key. Activities such as marketing campaigns, newsletters, blogs and emails can be created and scheduled before you jet off. This will ensure your business is ticking over whilst you’re away. Be sure to use the time that you have planned in your diary to prioritise key tasks. It will most likely be the case that you won’t have time to do every single marketing task, so be sure you have planned in the most important ones. 3. Review your objectives

Another useful thing to do in the summer is to review your marketing objectives. Remember when you created those objectives way back at the start of the year? Have you checked up on them recently? If not, checking them before your summer holiday is a great activity to do. You may find that some of your KPIs need to be adjusted due to the data you now have. It will also help you to create a realistic plan of what you want your business to achieve over the summer holidays. So, be sure to dig out those marketing objectives!

4. Be clever with your content

Let’s be honest, creating a whole summer’s worth of content for your social media platforms from scratch is not realistic for many small businesses. That’s why we recommend being clever with your content and look to reuse and recycle.

For example:

·      Reusing parts of your blogs for your social media posts.

·      Using longer videos to create multiple short-form videos.

·      Reusing images from social media for your newsletters and blogs.

·      Use copy from your marketing campaigns in your social media posts.

There are many other ways to recycle content. Always try to be creative as this will help you to get on top of marketing before your summer holiday!

You can use scheduling tools such as Hootsuite or Loomly to ensure your posts go out and you stay consistent while you’re away.

5. Trust the process

After spending the weeks before your holiday organising your marketing, the main thing to do is trust the process. We know it’s all too easy to continue working whilst on holiday, but by following our marketing tips, your business will continue to tick over, and you’ll enjoy some well-earned downtime.

6. Consider outsourcing

Another option you could consider is to outsource your marketing. Businesses like us at Freshbat can provide high-standard marketing delivery. By outsourcing, you can spend your time and resources on the other aspects of your business, whilst gaining access to a team of marketing experts. Outsourcing is also useful for circumstances such as when you’re on holiday and you want to ensure your business’ marketing activities are in good hands.
