What should I write about? 3 ways to think of new content ideas

Clients often ask us if we ever run out of content ideas for social media, blogs and emails. And the honest answer is… no! We have lots of strategies and tips for how to continuously think of fresh content to keep your audience engaged. In this post, we’re sharing our top 3 strategies so you won’t have to ask ‘What should I write about?’ again!

1. Write a list of 100 FAQs

Sometimes this is easier said than done, but we promise it is a worthwhile exercise. We’re always able to come up with a list of 100 frequently asked questions and topics with our clients. 

Once you have this, it’s very easy to create content without having to think of something brand new every single time. Half of the content creation battle is thinking of what to talk about! 

Think of any questions you get on a regular basis about the work you do. It could be from existing clients, prospective clients and even partners you work with. 

2. Repurpose content

Start with a longer-form piece of content, like a blog post or YouTube video, then break it out into shorter-form content like social media posts or emails. This is a technique we use with all our clients to help them stay on top of their content schedules.

Plus, it has the added bonus of keeping your content in line and consistent. Sometimes people also ask us if their audience is going to get bored of consuming the same content from them. But as long as it’s not 100% copy and paste, each time reiterates your message and keeps you consistent. So eventually, you become known as the expert in your space.

This is such a neat approach to content marketing!

3. Share behind-the-scenes content

Don’t be afraid to spice things up by sharing behind-the-scenes content. It’s a great way to give your audience an insight into your life and it makes it easier for them to connect with you. It’s also great for when you’re thinking ‘What should I write about?’ as it often doesn’t take too much effort.

Remember the saying, people buy from people? Well, it’s so true. So share your story, talk about something interesting that happened to you, an insightful conversation you had with a client, or even an event you recently attended. People are interested in what you get up to and how you work! Especially when they’re considering buying from you.
