5 effective tips to boost engagement on your summer marketing:

Throughout the summer, it’s normal to notice a dip in your social media engagement. With people being away on holiday, they tend to spend less time online and therefore less time looking at your posts. However, don’t be demotivated by this! In this post, we’re sharing some tips you can follow that have helped us to boost engagement on our summer marketing.

Plan ahead with your summer marketing

Plan your content beforehand using scheduling tools such as Loomly. We know how busy things can get and marketing is often the first thing that is forgotten about, especially during periods like the summer holidays. However, in marketing consistency is key. By planning ahead, you ensure your content is continually showing up, building brand awareness and boosting engagement. You can then spend time on the other parts of your business knowing your posts are going out.

Know your audience

What content would your audience consider interesting? It’s important to always consider the purpose of your content. When you’re creating your posts, have your target audience in the back of your mind and put yourself in their shoes. Would they be engaged by the post? By doing so, you can make your posts more targeted, which can help to boost your engagement.

Get on theme

Use summer related themes and visuals in your content to keep your audience engaged. It’s good to add some fun into your posts, especially in summer! During this time people often want to relax and they tend to steer away from posts that look too formal/bland. Additionally, they may not have enough time to read a long post! So, we suggest keeping visuals fun and attractive and ensuring the copy is short and to the point.

Engage in social media holidays

Keep track of the social media holidays across the months as many could be relevant for your content. For example, if you know the majority of your target audience has a dog, August 26th is World Dog Day! Why not create a fun post and ask your audience what dog they have? This will help encourage conversations on your posts which will build relationships. It’s also a great way to make your posts more targeted, as due to your marketing research you know your target audience will engage in a post like this. This will help to boost the engagement on your summer marketing. Be sure to check out our post on social media holidays in 2023 for some more ideas!

Make sure your summer marketing content is mobile phone friendly

This usually is the case with most posts, but make sure your content is accessible on the go. By ensuring that your content is optimised for mobile, you make it easier for users to interact with your posts. Social media platforms’ algorithms also prioritise mobile-friendly content which means your posts are likely to get more impressions. By making your posts easier to interact with, you can help to boost the engagement on your summer marketing. So, be sure to keep your posts visually attractive and short to get your point across without overwhelming the reader.

Just because engagement tends to be lower, doesn’t mean you can’t optimise your posts for the best results. Be sure to use these tips when planning your summer marketing and don’t worry if you’ve already planned ahead, you could simply revisit the posts and implement small changes that can make a huge difference!
