How to: Top Tips to Improve Website Design and Content

Needing to improve website design for your business? Having a good website is important for any business and whilst many have them, they aren’t always up to scratch.

Here’s some ideas on how to improve website design:

1. Have a clean, modern website design

Sometimes simplicity is key! If there is too much going on, you will probably overwhelm the visitor. Stick to a clean, modern design to keep your website aesthetically pleasing.

    2. Use brand colours

Make sure you’re keeping within your brand guidelines and are using the right colours so you are keeping things consistent and in line with your brand! If you are changing it up here, it can confuse clients/prospects.

      3. Use call to action (CTA) buttons

Use CTA buttons to drive action, but make sure these are bold and a good size, so they stand out and aren’t hidden away! A big button is much more tempting to click than a small one that can barely be seen.

        4. Navigation

Your website should be easy to navigate. Test it with people you know to get honest feedback. Common navigation sections include: About, Contact, Team, Services, and Blog. Typically, these are placed across the top of the page.

          5. Visuals

Use imagery and videos where possible. We would recommend using team photos where possible over stock images but always make sure these look professional.

After you’ve mastered the visual side of your website, you need to make sure you have enough content on there and make sure it’s relevant for better user experience.

            Here are some ideas:

            1. Case studies and testimonial

Case studies and testimonials add credibility to your website. If you’re struggling to obtain case studies, check out our helpful guide.

            2. Blogs

Don’t be afraid to write blogs! Discuss the latest industry news and insights, as well as questions you often hear from clients or prospects. By addressing these topics in blogs and ensuring they are SEO-optimised, you can attract visitors who are searching for answers on Google. Positioning yourself as a thought leader in your field puts you in a strong position against competitors.

            3. Services

Create a landing page for each service you provide. Under each page ensure you explain what the service is and how it will address the problems of the prospect. This needs to be detailed and enticing to generate interest.

            4. About

In here, explain what your company is about and what your values are. Potential clients strive to find out more about your business before getting in touch or acquiring your services.

            5. Meet the team

Introduce your team members with their names and roles. This is a feature we personally love seeing on websites. When this page is missing, it can be quite disappointing. Potential clients want to know who they might be working with, so give them a glimpse of your team.

            6. Anything other relevant content

Make sure you are using all the content you have available on your website! For example, if you have events or podcasts these can be linked up on your website too – don’t be afraid to use this content. Any other resources you may have are also beneficial to have on your website as a form of lead magnets.

By incorporating these elements, you can enrich your website with valuable content that attracts and engages visitors, ultimately helping to grow your business.
